AHOY! It is so hot in the UK, and I am meeeellllttttiiiinnnggggg.
So I won't lie. The heat has been slowing me down. I just CANNOT concentrate whilst stewing in my own juices, it's horrific. D':
Still progress has been made, just not as much I would have ideally liked.
Current Status:
General:
The focus is still currently on finishing the rough animation for the 3rd shot of the 2nd short. Followed by the creation of the animation guide, upon completion should allow us to bring in more animators to speed up the progress.
We've also been discussing some edits and rewrites for the 1st episode to help beef it up and make the narrative hook of the series clearer.
With all that said let's break it down. :D
Rough Animation:
Animation:
So last week I had most of Hawkins rough animation completed for the first half of the shot. Happy to say Hawkins rough animation is pretty much done, at least up to the point where their fishing line gets a hook. We even concluded how we're going to animate their freckles.
Because of that I began working on Carbo and immediately began animating the head and torso. Happy to say I managed to get that done, and I powered through a very sweaty night to get the lip sync on Carbo done for the most part.
Still need to animate Carbo's fishing rod and arms and then the more energetic bit where Hawkins' rod catches something.
I wish I managed to get more done throughout this week, but I'm still happy with how this is coming together.
Next week I hope to be done or close to be done.
Rewriting Episode 1:
So this is something we've been discussing over the last few days.
Upon reviewing the boards for episode 1 we've come to realise that there are quite a few areas we could improve upon. Our general aim is to make the narrative hook of the series more apparent and not completely rewrite the entire first episode.
Generally we think the script for episode 1 is fairly solid, but can and should be improved here and there. So to that end we're planning to have a meeting to go over and list out where we believe improvements could be made.
The rewrite will be my focus after completing the Animation Guide.
We're still happy with the scripts for the shorts (thank god).
The Coming Week:
Keep on keeping on. Across the board really.
